The Beginning,

How we got started:

Direct Transport Systems, Inc., (DTSI), came into existence back in the early 90’s.  It was originally part of a larger “Holding Company”, that provided several different types of transportation services.  Due to what was deemed to be the Needs of the Business, the delivery portion of the company was spun off in 1999 and John Olbeter became President of the new entity.  John has over 25 years of experience in the transportation industry and has performed in almost every capacity.  To this day, John, continues on as President of the company, and yet he can still be found doing Check Rides, Quality Control, Driver Audits, and even jump in a truck on occasion, showing his customers the “We will do whatever it takes” service philosophy that Direct Transport stands for.  His personal feelings are, “It’s not just a job – Transportation is a Life Style

The Transportation Industry:

Because there are so many portions of what can be considered part of the Transportation Industry, analysts have yet to truly come up with a total value amount for the industry.  With all things considered, the total revenue produced by transportation companies is considered to be approximately $15 billion dollars. This would include, but not limited to, the following; Overnight Carriers, Same Day Carriers, LTL, Truckload, Interline, Local Truckers, National Truckers, Expedited Truckers, all forms of Small Package Couriers, International Couriers, Logistics Planners, 3PL, Parts Banks, Freight Forwarders, etc.  As you can see the list gets very extensive and continues to grow with new specialties arising every day.

Capabilities, Equipment, & Capacities:

Local Network

Locally, Direct Transport performs 98% of all of their customers’ requirements themselves.  We make use of leased equipment with employee drivers and Service Partners, which enhance our flexibility.  Because each Customer Solution is unique by design, our capabilities are really limitless.   We are able to manage business “Spikes” or “Seasonality” through carefully matching our resources.  When one business spikes up, another will hit a low and we just rotate our resources.  This is just another way that we generate Operational Efficiencies and savings.  If ever needed, we also have several Service Partners in the area to help us manage, surprise volume, emergencies, or a customer has a short term need for equipment that we do not have regularly available, ie. Flatbeds, Stake Trucks, etc.

National Network

Nationally, we partner with the 3 largest “Same Day” delivery companies in the U.S. and Canada.  Between them, they have Operational Facilities in every major city in the U.S., and Canada.  Combined they represent over 5,000 drivers with vehicles ranging in size from bicycles to 53 footers.  The capabilities and capacities are endless.
